TTOM Programme

The TTOM Programme is now complete and hence CLOSED to further applications.

TTOM - University to SME Technology Transfer in Optoelectronics and Microelectronics, was one of the first two SEEKIT projects announced in October 2004, funded by the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and the EU and delivered by the Scottish Optoelectronics Association (SOA).

TTOM focused on core areas in optoelectronics microelectronics and related technologies and disciplines (e.g. MEMS & Photonics).

TTOM Awards

  • TTOM Awards fund feasibility studies by partnerships involving Scottish SMEs and researchers from Scotland's Universities.
  • Grants of up to £5000 awarded to the University (HEI) to tackle a problem or perform a feasibility study relevant to the SME.
  • Aim to establish, then enable, technology transfer projects particularly with a cross-sectoral and inter-disciplinary focus.
  • SME expected to make a contribution to the project, which can be in kind.
  • Technology: Optoelectronics, Microelectronics and related technologies and disciplines (e.g. MEMS & Photonics).
  • Application examples: Imaging, Semiconductor Devices, Displays, Digital Signal Processing, Sensors, and Lasers.
  • Market examples: Bio-Medical, Security & Defence, Automotive and Communications.
  • 1 (or more) HEIs and 1 (or more) SMEs in partnership.
  • Application jointly with HEI and SME.
  • Application decision within 4 weeks of deadline.
  • Grant to the HEI partner.

TTOM Delivers

"As a result of the TTOM interaction a collaborative DTI Technology Programme project has been secured with a total eligible value of £2.4M."

"Work under the TTOM programme supported our successful SMART application and led to 2 new patent applications being generated."

"The TTOM project with the UK ATC was very successful. The research is ongoing and will form the basis of a new product."

"The TTOM project has resulted in a development platform which will be used as a technology demonstrator and as the basis of full products."

"A new range of products is being developed and further development is likely to generate new intellectual property."
