Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA), an alliance of eight universities aimed at developing Physics in Scotland into a world leading force by pooling of resource and coherent planning of research strategy.  SUPA has a Knowledge Transfer vision to significantly grow its KT activities through increasing contracts and consultancy with industry.

Business Development Managers (BDMs)

One each at:


Reporting to their University line manager and working closely with academics and the Knowledge Transfer Officers (KTOs) across SUPA, the BDMs will have an outward facing role to deliver significant new collaborative industrial research contracts for SUPA. The BDMs should have a qualification in physics or associated subject, significant experience in both industry and research, have high level national and international commercial and research contacts and must be high profile individuals, recognised within industry and by the academic community.  Of the two posts advertised, the successful BDM for Strathclyde will also act as Project Manager for the underpinning ERDF/SEEKIT-funded SUPA KT project. 

Technologists

One each at:

Reporting to their University line manager and working closely with the academics and the KTOs across SUPA, the Technologists will be expected to work on a portfolio of short to medium term industrial contracts (weeks to 6 months max.) The Technologists should have experience in the successful completion of applied research projects, and relevant industrial experience is desirable.

Each technologist will carry out contract and consultancy work for external organisations/industry that need specific technical knowhow or access to equipment etc in relation to a relevant SUPA  technology area, (see http://www.SUPA.ac.uk for a description of SUPA research and technology areas) in order to expand the interaction between SUPA, industry and other external organisations.
