The Thin Film Centre is based at the University of Paisley, with a remit for research and development in the general areas of thin film deposition, characterization and applications.

Specialised Skills and Facilities
We have particular expertise in sputtered, multi-layer coatings for optical filters and in PECVD of hard coatings and bio-medical coatings.
Deposition systems: Microwave-activated, DC reactive sputtering: Electron-beam deposition: PECVD (soon)
Characterisation tools available include SEM/EDX, UV/Vis/IR spectroscopy, spectroscopic ellipsometry, AFM/Nano-indenting and EDX.
Collaboration Sought or Offered
We are interested in collaborations with industry and other universities, particularly for DTI-Link schemes and EPSRC/EU research applications.
