Organisation Description

Logitech produces a range of lapping machines, polishing machines, diamond saws, optical test equipment and associated consumable products. The company provides system ‘packages’, each configured to suit the customer’s individual technical requirements and each containing a blend of high precision equipment with detailed processing technology. Systems are suitable for both research and production scale applications involving the processing of optoelectronic materials. The provision of detailed technology transfer enables ‘leading-edge’ results in respect of geometric control and surface quality to be produced by experienced or inexperienced operators alike.
A subsiduary of Roper Industries.

New Products

The Logitech DL4 & DP4 Precision Lapping & Polishing Machines represent a significant step forward in the development of the Logitech materials processing product range.
The DL4 is capable of processing material with high geometric precision, and handles up to four 200mm / 8” Ø wafers simultaneously – making it ideal for production environments. It utilises motor driven jig technology to ensure consistent sample rotation during the processing, providing accurate and even material removal across the sample surface.
The DP4 is a high speed polishing system for semi automated final stage polishing of hard materials, such as sapphire, silicon carbide or gallium nitride, to epitaxy ready quality surfaces. It also has four heads that can process material up to 200mm / 8” Ø (or multiple smaller samples). It is capable of applying up to 50Kg of download on each carrier head, resulting in the DP4 having the highest sample throughput of any of our polishing systems.
The list below represents a cross section of the various applications that these systems are suited to:
• Polishing wafered materials to an epitaxy ready surface without losing geometric control
• Precision interference filter polishing for UV or IR colour discrimination in optical & electro optical systems
• Angled polishing within exact surface tolerances for optical wedges as included in microscopes or binoculars
• Exacting parallelism achieved when polishing plane parallel windows for use in optical systems as input / output windows for beamsplitters, filters & polarizers

Quality Standards

ISO EN 9001

Main Markets

Products are marketed globally, with customers being found in universities, government research establishments and the major high technology companies worldwide. Key market sectors include materials processing laboratories and production establishments in the fields of optoelectronics, fibre optics, lasers, high precision optics, semiconductors & geology.

Services Offered

Logitech applies a unique consultative approach to the sale and marketing of its range of products, which includes the provision of custom designed and manufactured system packages, as well as a full technology transfer programme with each such package.

Specialised Skills and Facilities

Logitech customers are offered access to extensive expertise in the field of precision materials technology. This expertise has been developed using ‘in-house’ materials processing laboratories – to the extent that, Whatever the material or application requirements, a Logitech system can provide the ultimate processing capability.
