Organisation Description
HORIBA Jobin Yvon IBH is a leading manufacturer of advanced photon counting instrumentation used in research laboratories worldwide. Originally a Strathclyde University spin-off company, IBH is now part of the HORIBA Group – the world’s fifth largest scientic instrument provider.
Product/Research Description
IBH manufactures a range of fluorescence lifetime spectrometers based on the award winning System 5000: a modular system incorporating custom designed components for flexibility and easy expansion. All components have been selected or designed for single photon timing applications. Key products include: Model 5000F Nanosecond Flashlamp, Model 5000XeF Microsecond Flashlamp, Model 5000M Fluorescence Monochromator, Model 5000U Fluorescence Lifetime Spectrometer (U-geometry with single detection channel), Model 5000W Fluorescence Lifetime Spectrometer (W-geometry with two detection channels), and Model 5000W-SAFE Fluorescence Lifetime Spectrometer (W-geometry with additional SAFE channel). SAFE systems are patented and are only available from IBH. They include an additonal detection channel which measures the excitation pulse in parallel with the fluorescence detection channels.
New Products
IBH has recently introduced the “NanoLed” range of pulsed light sources. These are extremely cost effective light sources producing nanosecond and picosecond pulses with spectral coverage from the near UV to near IR. The “NanoLed” is an award winning product and has been chosen as a Millenium product by the Design Council. A violet picosecond source based on the new Nichia Laser Diode has just been added to the range. Another innovation by IBH is the TBX-04 single photon detection unit. The timing performance of the TBX-04 is comparable to micro-channel plate photomultiplier tubes but it is much simpler to use and only a fraction of the price. For more information and the latest announcements, please visit the company web site at http://www.ibh.co.uk.
Main Markets
IBH products are sold worldwide both directly and through a network of agents. Customers are usually involved in scientific research in university or corporate research laboratories.
Services Offered
IBH is always willing to discuss special requirements. We have designed and built special photon counting systems for a number of clients including commercial, military and nuclear sectors.
Specialised Skills and Facilities
IBH are specialists in counting and timing single photons. The company has lifetimes of experience in the subject and the directors have extensive research and development backgrounds including academic and industrial experience. IBH regularly customises its products for specific customer requirements and can design and manufacture complete special systems. IBH has in-house facilities for performing fluorescence lifetime measurements and an extensive library of software for analysing that data. The company can do trial measurements and perform feasibility studies for clients or potential customers.
Collaboration Sought or Offered
We are always willing to talk to people in related fields.
