Organisation Description
Fibre Photonics was incorporated in October 2006 and specialises in the manufacture of mid infrared fibre optic cables for light delivery and military/avionic sensing. The company also provides a range of fibre optic immersion probes for liquid chemical sensing applications. In 2010 the company won the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award for Innovation and High Growth. In 2011 the company expanded into a larger production facility to accommodate an increased fibre optic production area, analytical chemistry laboratory and larger office space.
Product/Research Description
Our range of cables are predominantly supplied into academic, industrial, environmental and military sensing applications. The company provides fibre optic probes to some of the world’s largest companies such as BP Chemicals, ABB and Agilent for use in laboratory and process control applications. Such devices provide a mechanism of making an in-situ analytical measurement of a chemical’s ‘fingerprint’ in real time, reducing the need for continual sampling and testing in a laboratory which only introduces a delay in knowing what is actually happening.
Main Markets
The company will continue to focus on light delivery in industrial, military and avionic applications for its fibre optic cables. The range of fibre optic probes are utilised in chemicals development, scale up, production, process intensification and quality control in chemicals markets such as in pharmaceutical, petrochemical, biofuel, and food & drink applications.
Specialised Skills and Facilities
Skills in the innovation, design, development in the lean manufacture of fibre optic products.
Collaboration Sought or Offered
