Organisation Description

Holoxica is a privately-owned limited company incorporated in England and Wales and the trading office is in Edinburgh, Scotland. Holoxica is a high-tech startup in the field of holographic display systems, based at the Scottish Microelectronics Centre, at Edinburgh University’s King’s Buildings campus. The company has been created to commercialise a new generation of low resolution 3D volumetric holographic displays through a combination of technology partnerships, licensing agreements and product sales.

Product/Research Description

The company focuses on research, design, development and testing of components, demonstrators and prototypes of their novel display systems. The company has undergone about 2 years of research and development. Currently, Holoxica’s technology is in the early stages where the proof of concept is done and a patent is pending. The technology is based on a new type of holographic recording and reconstruction principle. It promises relatively low-cost low-resolution 3D volumetric holographic displays.

Main Markets

Three dimensional displays are increasingly being used in a variety of industrial and commercial sectors. Traditional markets for 3D include engineering design (CAD), simulation and medical imaging, whereas emerging markets include cinema, gaming and advertising. We are targetting low end lower-cost markets in advertising and signage in public spaces. Studies have shown that holograms used in advertising have two to three times more impact than traditional means of advertising.
