Product/Research Description

The research and development centre in Glasgow is focused on the optoelectronics technologies relevant to the development of intelligent XTs and Subsea processing systems. This includes the development of new sensors and systems, communications components and systems and the development of testing methodologies and facilities both for use in evaluating research devices and future optical products.

New Products

Specification and integration of an optical feedthrough system for a Horizontal Subsea XT, developed in partnership with customer and a leading connector manufacturer. This development allows optical communication across the pressure barrier and will allow connection to a downhole sensor package. FMCTI have maintained a leading role in detailing the required specification for such a system and as such FMCTI’s recommendations make up a significant proportion of the industry standards that are currently being drafted.
