The struggle to achieve peace and security now relies heavily on being able to effectively combat terrorist and insurgent threats. Thus Government Armed Forces and Civil Law Enforcement Agency equipment requirements now focus on systems which can counter such asymmetric threats.
Speakers at the event highlighted developments in photonic detection of explosives and reported on the Ministry of Defence - Open for Innovation event, held on the 29th of April at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. Current defence and security prime contractor needs were outlined. State-of-the-art gas sensing capabilities were described and attendees had an opportunity to briefly introduce their organisation.
