About SOA
The Scottish Optoelectronics Association (SOA) was founded in 1994 and is the 3rd oldest National Optoelectronics association in the world. The SOA has links to similar bodies internationally, nationally and locally. The SOA shares common office accommodation with ScotlandIS and the National Microelectronics Institute. It is the secretariat of the UK Consortium for Photonics and Optics (UKCPO) and a founding member of the International Optoelectronics Association.
Scottish companies, university departments, bridging organisations and individuals are welcome to join the SOA. SOA members benefit from the key objectives of the association:
- To actively promote the interests of the Optoelectronics Industry and members through local, national and international representation;
- To provide strategic guidance to government and other public sector bodies on industry priorities and allocation of funds;
- To support the growth of the Optoelectronics industry in Scotland;
- To maintain the viability and vibrancy of the SOA
